Why aren't the technical specifications of the Lo-Co SMART Valve outlined on your web site?
Recently, We co-authored an article with the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) that was submitted to the International Journal of Fluid Power for publication. When We submitted Our article, We agreed that We would refrain from publishing the technical specifications of the Lo-Co SMART Valve and any testing data until the article was released. We anticipate that Our article will be selected for publication this Fall. If you are interested in seeing a general overview of how the Lo-Co SMART Valve works in the system, please download Our Dynamic Powerpoint presentation from the "Download" page of Our web site. You may also view a static presentation by clicking on the "Lo-Co Smart Valve" button on Our site.

What does the Lo-Co SMART Valve do?
The Lo-Co SMART Valve uses an innovative design to detect the difference between a flow surge during normal equipment operation and a line break. In the event of a line break, the Lo-Co SMART valve immediately shuts-off flow so high pressure fluid does not escape into the atmosphere. Because the Lo-Co SMART Valve is fast-acting, the Lo-Co SMART Valve can reduce or eliminate many of the hazards associated with the use of Fluid Power equipment.

What is so revolutionary about the Lo-Co SMART Valve?
The Lo-Co SMART Valve is a mechanical safety shut-off valve that uses the physics of Fluid Power to safely shut-off flow in the event of a line break. The Lo-Co SMART Valve is revolutionary for one simple reason, it can be placed in the pressure suppy line right after the relief valve and pump. We believe that this is the best location to shut-off flow in the event of a downstream line break. This makes Our patent pending Lo-Co SMART valve design extremely unique.

What is Full System Safety Protection?
Unlike Low-Level Reservoir Switches, the Lo-Co SMART Valve shuts-off flow immediately when a catastrophic line break occurs. Because the Lo-Co SMART Valve offers fast-acting safety protection, it can protect the the full system from damage. We call this type of protection, Full System Safety Protection.

How does the Lo-Co SMART Valve differ from other valves on the market?
The Lo-Co SMART Valve differs from other valves, in that, it can be positioned in the pressure supply line. In this location, the Lo-Co SMART Valve can detect the difference between a flow surge during normal equipment operation and a line break. In the event of a catastrophic line break, the Lo-Co SMART Valve immediately shuts-off flow, thereby, preventing high pressure fluid from damaging the equipment, injuring the operator and contaminating the environment.

Why is it important to immediately shut-off flow?
Whenever a line break occurs, fluid, under pressure, sprays out at the point of the break. This situation creates many known hazards, including equipment damage, fire, environmental damage and tragically, worker injuries. Please click on the "Accident Pics" button on Our web site to see what types of injuries have resulted from a lack of full system safety protection.

Are you currently manufacturing the Lo-Co SMART Valve?
No. We are currently working with a small parts manufacturer to machine the protypes of Our Lo-Co SMART Valve that We will use for laboratory and field testing. We are capable of customizing a valve for a specific application, but We have not yet established a means to mass produce our valve for Commercialization. If you are a major parts manufacturer that has an interest in manufacturing Our Lo-Co SMART Valve, please use the form on the "Contact Us" page or click on the "Email" button on Our web site to drop us a line and explain your proposal.

Can you customize the Lo-Co SMART Valve to fit my equipment?
Yes. Our Lo-Co SMART Valve can be customized to fit your equipment. We anticipate that the customization process can be done within two weeks. Once a customized prototype has been developed for your specific equipment, the valve will undergo laboratory testing and a certification processs. The laboratory testing and certification will be performed by the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE). Once the valve is certified, it can be placed on your equipment. If you are interested in having a prototype designed for a specific application and are willing to perform "field testing" on the valve, please use the form on the "Contact Us" page or click on the "Email" button on Our web site to provide Us with more information.

How much does the Lo-Co SMART Valve cost?
That really depends. Obviously, the costs will vary depending on the size of the valve and amount of customization that is needed to make the Lo-Co SMART Valve fit your equipment. If you opt to have a prototype developed for a specific application and agree to participate in "field testing" the valve, your direct costs will be minimal. If you would like further information on the participation requirements, please use the "Contact Us" form on Our web site or click on the "Email" form to submit your inquiry.
